Russian Postcard Spam is Back

A new, massive outbreak of Russian postcard spam is underway, similar to the previous outbreak I wrote about a few weeks back. We know why spammers were sending Valentines’ spam this past week, but why Russian postcards? I checked with one of our resident experts, and it turns out that in less than a week, Russia is celebrating Protector of the Motherland Day (also frequently viewed as a holiday for men, a counterpart to Women’s Day on March 8).

Do you have any information on the threat malware? I got infected a couple of weeks ago (I think my computer is a zombie) and the latest versions of Symantec Antivirus and AVG Free can’t find the infection.
